HP:n päivitetyn tiedon mukaan Reverb näyttäisi olevan saatavilla 6.5, Euroopan julkaisusta ei tosin mitään tietoa.
HP Reverb VR Headset - Pro Edition
Alla jonkun satunnaisen testailijan kommentit Reverbistä.
The new HP Reverb headset is on demo at the NAB show in Las Vegas this week and I was able to try it out for a bit.
The release date is April 26 (I don’t think I’ve seen that posted online yet). The HP rep was confident there would be no stock issues.
The resolution is as impressive as expected. I’m not going to be that guy who says “SDE is finally gone!!!!11” but we really are getting close. It’s comparable to the experience of using a 720p-level laptop display– you know it could probably be better but it’s fine to use for regular things. I am confident we are past the point where the SDE will be a driving constraint.
The biggest display limitation now, at least in the case of the Reverb, is optics. If you’re reading this, you probably know it doesn’t have hardware IPD adjustment, and I think this is going to ruin it for a lot of users. The sweet spot on the lenses is not large and the image quickly becomes degraded if the lenses aren’t centered over your eyes. My IPD is right in the target ballpark (62mm with a 1mm asymmetry) but I still had difficulty achieving and maintaining correct alignment. Relatedly, the headset needed to sit a bit higher on my face than I was used to with others.
The resolution of the display is high enough to read text easily, but only if you have the headset/lens positioning perfect on your face (which may be impossible for some). Perhaps as part of the small sweet spot, the clarity falls off relatively quickly at the edges so it’s necessary to turn your head to read a larger area of text instead of just your eyes.
Compared to Pimax 5K+: The image is clearly sharper than Pimax 5K+ within the lens sweet spot. However, Pimax is sharper over a wider FOV (and obviously has a much wider overall FOV). I prefer the Pimax as I think the resolution is already good enough for most present applications and the wide FOV is a drastic improvement over anything else, but if I had both headsets I’d probably use the Reverb for Virtual Desktop and for any games where long-distance vision is helpful.
Compared to Odyssey+: Probably the most similar currently available headset. Reverb is significantly higher res, and negates the SDE without resorting to Samsung’s blur filter. Both the Reverb and Odyssey+ have poor sweet spots, but at least the Odyssey+ has adjustable IPD. Samsung’s WMR controllers do seem a bit more solid. If price is not an issue, I don’t think there is any real reason to get an Odyssey+ over the Reverb unless your IPD is too far off.
Since someone usually asks, here are some extremely poor photos taken through the lens with a bad phone camera:
