Huono HDR-kuva.
Philips 7304 reviews/experiences
Play around with the settings. I use around 75 color, 52 brightness, gamma-2, all contrast 100 and HDR+ to maximum. Some content even needs color enhancement up to the maximum, depending on how it was mastered.
But it's still a lot dimmer than SDR, and there's also a lot of inaccurices in the shadows, it makes ugly artifacts at times and a LOT of banding that's not present in SDR (mostly due to this being an 8bit panel). Again depending on the content, but even after HDR got improved for me with the NVM update, I actually prefer watching SDR and have just accepted the fact that this TV can't make HDR look good and it's just another marketing ploy.
Sure, HDR does make the picture look slightly nicer and more natural in some cases, where SDR has this much more flat contrast in comparison that you are used to seeing, but overall it is just too dim, and I can't accept all the banding and the artifacts. Maybe in a few years with the next TV, but not with this one.
And this is not just on this Philips model, if you check AVForums review of their OLED model that came out just a few weeks ago, it has the same problem - HDR looks dimmer compared to competitors, and the reviewer said it's probably due to too it's agressive tone mapping, so I would guess this is a recuring issue on all Philips products in the lineup.
