Yleensä palava materiaali tuppaa olemaan sisällä, eikä ulkona. Kiinan palossa savu on pikimustaa, kun taas wtc7 puskee harmaata, haaleaa savua joka viittaa kosteuteen (sprinklerit?) tai siihen, että palo on laantumassa koska ei löydä palavaa materiaalia.
