So, now that every one's working at home, like I am, I found some time to revive some songs I've made during the years. Some ideas and parts go back to like 25 years ago. Most of the songs have been in this same state composing wise, just been re-recording them once in a while. I've got more of these coming when I've time. Some old ones again and then there's some more recent ones.
My biggest influences are Vai's first records, some Satriani's and Yngwie of course. I'm also a big fan of old school powermetal. I hope you can hear these influences.
I'm sure the songs may not be anything special for most of the people, including this forum. To me, they represent my whole history of guitar playing (well, a big part of it at least) for they've been in my head all the years and have played them all many times in different levels of my playing abilities. For sure they were a lot simpler back then.
I'd like to get feedback all over this video. The songs are still in a demo state. Put them together because... I wanted to =)
Anyway, here's a short description of the songs.
1.
Rise And Shine (00:00). This is quite a recent one and really quickly composed. Wanted to have a starter like Vai's Liberty.
2.
Unnamed Excitements (00:46). This is quite influenced by Satriani. Crushing Day off Surfing album was one of my favorites. A song you might here during a sports show on TV, maybe? When there was still bossgtcentral.com they took this song on the site to represent what Boss GT-8 could sound like. This is maybe done in... hmm.. 2002?
3.
Behemoth Blues (05:33). Composed in 2015 when I got my seven string. Influenced by Steve Vai's "The Animal". Was quite hard to record for the shuffle beat. Like playing this one though.
4.
Still untitled (09:10). This one goes back to 1998 or something. The main melody line was in a ballad and finally found it's way on this one. There's some slight errors in the Whammy Pedal thing for I'm not very comfortable still with all of the VST automations. Also, the first recorded thing with my Strat (the first solo)
5.
Illness Between Ears (12:53). Back to late 90's again. I was trying to do some version of The Attitude Song and had ideas that became this song maybe 10 years later.
6.
The Groke (16:48). This one will have vocals on it when a good singer is found. Nothing special in this. A pop rock/metal song which is about The Groke. Y'know, the monster lady from the Moomins!
7.
Tender Insanity (20:26). Maybe 15-20 years old composition. Been back and forth with this one. Slow or fast? E-tuning or low tuning? Tricky or not? Don't know. Maybe all of them.
All of the songs are made with EZDrummer 2, Amplitube 4 on rhythm tracks and Overloud TH3 on lead guitars. There's also some NI Guitar Rig in there and a plenty of other VST's, like Kjaerhus, Kuassa, IK Multimedia and Cakewalk Sonar ones.
All the guitars are Ibanez Jem77FP, Ibanez RG972, Fender Player Strat (MIM) and Ibanez SR305 as bass guitar. Bass sound is just TSE Audio BoD.
tl:dr yai or nay?
