Laitetaas pystyyn tämmönen yleisketju "klassikkopeleille", joita päivitetään edelleen fanien toimesta, kun näitä löytyy omalta koneeltakin useempi. Voi olla abandonwarea tai jotain muuta. Klassikon määritelmä vapaa, mutta näistä kaikki toiminee myös SER-jätteellä. :)

Eli jos pelaat jotain wanhaa peliä hd-grafiikoilla tai muilla herkuilla, vinkkaa tänne.

Diablolle on myös DevilutionX, jossa on modernien resoluutioden lisäksi esim ohjaintuki. Testasin tätä SteamDeckillä ja toimi kyllä yllättävän hyvin. On myös saatavilla suoraan GOGista (Jos omistaa Diablon sieltä). GOGissa on nykyään muidenkin pelien modeja/patcheja ladattavana suoraan. Aloituksessa mainitut KeeperFX, Heroes 3: Horn of the Abyss, sekä tuo Diablo HD löytyvät myös tuolta.

UFO:Enemy Unknown Open Source projekti: OpenXcom Extended (Lisätietoa täältä), joka lisää kaikenlaisia QoL-muutoksia (jotka saa myös pois päältä). Lisäksi OpenXcomille on loputon lista modeja kuten vaikka Warhammer 40k total conversion modi

Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition. Vastaava päivitys Silent Hillille tehden pc-versiosta erittäin pelikelpoisen, korjaten efektit, valaistukset ja parantaen tarkkuutta. Ainoa ongelma tässä on se, että korkeammalla tarkkuudella tässä tapauksessa menetetään osa "räkäisyydestä", eikä peli ole ihan yhtä tunnelmallinen ja pelottava kuin CRT-ruudulta alkuperäistä pelatessa.

RVGL - Klassisen Re-Volt autoilun opensource porttaus, joka on jatkettavissa pelaajien omatekemällä sisällöllä. Vaikka lisäsisältöä ei kaipaisikaan, on päivitys paras tapa pelata peliä uudemmilla laitteilla ja esimerkiksi Steam Deckillä (joka asentaa RVGL automaattisesti, jos ostaa pelin Steamista ja vaihtaa yhteensopivuusrajapinnaksi luxtorpedan).

Mielenkiintoista. Onko käytännön kokemuksia tästä? Näistähän on joistain olemassa myös alkuperäisen tekijän uudistetut versiot Steamissa.
 
Stracciatella projekti ihan ehdoton Jagged Alliance 2:sen pelaamiseen modernilla alustalla.

1.13 modin henki pihisee edelleen, sitten jos ja kun kaipaa vaihtelua alkuperäiseen Jaggediin. Lisäksi Unfinished Business lisäosan pelaaminen onnistuu sillä myös, mitä Stracciatella ei jostain syystä tue vielä.
Vanhoja modeja löytyy paljon ja muutamia vielä aktiivisina oleviakin löytyy, mm. laajennettu UB kampanja, Vengeance Reloaded ja Deidranna's Side Mod

Nhl04 rebuilt oli olemassa vielä ilmeisesti vuosi-kaksi sitten, mutta nyt tuntuu ettei googlell oikeen löydy et päivitetäänkö tuota enää. Liekkö google sensuroi tuloksia vai miksi ei löydy. Jostain foorumilta se piti latailla 14v sitten. Vanhaan NHL04 siis löytyi päivitykset joka kaudelle, jossa siis pelaajat joukkueet, mutta myös monet ulkoiset elementit kuten maskit, maalilaulut yms. oli ajantasalla ja jopa siis paremmin kuin virallisesti uusimmassa EAn änärissä. Pelattavuus ajalta ennen skill stickejä.

Jedi Knight Remastered:


Pelasin n. vuosi takaperin Jedi Knightin (Dark Forces 2) uudelleen tämän modin kanssa, hyvin toimi ja hyvältä näytti.
Päivittää grafiikat kutakuinkin Jedi Outcast tasolle ja hyvällä maulla, myös liuta QoL parannuksia ja modernin Windowsin sekä widescreen tuki yms.

Originaalin saa Steamista edelleen.

Myös Mysteries of The Sith lisäosalle löytyy vastaava modi.
 
Star Wars avaruusräiskintä moderneilla grafiikoilla: Tie Fighter Total Conversion päivitettiin versioon 1.4

The TIE Fighter Total Conversion (TFTC) project is a free, fan-made port of the original classic 1994 LucasArts game TIE Fighter, into the 1999 X-Wing Alliance (XWA) engine. Based on the original TFTC from 2005 and built upon the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade (XWAU) project, this is a complete overhaul of the game from graphics to gameplay. All 13 original Tour of Duty campaigns and their training missions have been ported over, including all original voiceovers, cutscenes and even most of the original medals and Secret Order tattoo awards.

But alongside this are also 9 reimagined Tour of Duty campaigns. Taking advantage of the much improved XWA engine, TFTC Reimagined attempts to envision what TIE Fighter could have been if the technology of the time had not limited it. Reimagined takes the Classic campaigns and puts a new spin on them, adding many more ships, greater scale and scope, brand new missions, a more fleshed out story, better narrative continuity between missions and all new voiceovers.

  • The complete, original TIE Fighter experience with all 13 tour of duty campaigns and expansions (Defenders of the Empire and Enemies of the Empire), all 28 training missions and even the old demo mission!
  • A reimagined campaign experience with currently 9 tour of duty campaigns available to play. The remaining battle campaigns are still being worked on but ultimately the aim is to have a complete reimagined experience of the entire TIE Fighter campaign.

^Tulipa mieleen, miten lapsuuden kaveri hakkas tätä ilotikullaan ekalla PCllään aikoinaan. Iteltä meni silloin ohi kun tähtien sodat oli jääny kattomatta.

Tämä faniversio on ikävä kyllä keskeneräinen eikä täysin toimiva. Palasia puuttuu yms. Peli kyllä ansaitsisi grafiikkapäivityksen tyyliin mikä tehtiin Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle etc.

Sitä odottaessa voisi kokeilla alkuperäistä ja ScummVm+filtterit.

Tämähän on se ainut ja oikea 4 indy elokuva. heh.

Edelleen ärsyttää että tuolle ei koskaan tullut leffasovitusta vaan uustuotanto-indyinä saatiin jotain ihme fanfiction-tier räpelllyksiä eikä sitä Atlantiksen kaltaista ehtaa menoa....

Tämä tuli itsellekin vastaan, täytyy kokeilla piakkoin, en olekaan alkuperäistä X-Wingiä tai TIE Fighteriä pelannut sitten ala-asteen.

Yllä kysyttiin miten tätä pelaisi hiirellä ja näppiksellä niin sanosin huonosti, tosin tuo TFTC saattaa toimia paremmin kuin originaalit.
Aikanaan paras tapa omasta mielestä oli joystick+näppis yhdistelmä, joikkarilla aluksen hallinta ja tähtäys / aseiden käyttö, näppiksellä kaikki muu eli energiatasojen säädöt, tutkakomennot, siipimiesten käskyt yms.

Tämä myös tuntu jotenkin "autenttiselta" kun sauvalla ja napeillahan niitä aluksia "oikeastikin" ohjataan :)

Peliohjain+näppiskombo toiminee myös, modernissa ohjaimessa saanee tärkeimmät toiminnot ohjaimen nappeihin määriteltyä.
Kahdella analogitatilla voi olla jopa joikkaria sujuvampi jos toiseen tattiin saa pitch/ yaw ja toiseen roll.
Alunperin tuo roll oli modifier napin kautta aina.

Tämä se melkein aina faniprojektien helmasynti, tässäkin edellinen versio tuo v0.35 tullut 9kk sitten ja sen jälkeen ei mitään. Tietenkin ymmärrettävää että tekijöillä muutakin palkallista töitä ja muuta elämää, mutta silti pelaajana ärsyttää odottaa kirjaimellisesti vuosia näiden ilmestymistä, jos siis teami ylipäätään saa peliä ulos ennenkuin porukka lyö hanskat tiskiin.

Näyttäisi siltä, että Windows 11:sta tarvitaan jo rekisteripuukotuksiakin.
 
Kiitos ketjusta! Pitää kyllä ottaa myöhemmin muutama faniprojekti kokeiluun.

Taisin itsekin yrittää pari vuotta sitten hakea tuota NHL2004 Rebuiltia, enkä saanut sitä silloin toimimaan. Olisi kyllä muuten makeeta palata tuohon vanhan ajan änäriin kun ei ole koskaan näitä uudempia skill stick juttuja opetellut, eikä pc:lle muutenkaan ole montaa eri änäriä julkaistu. 95 versio oli yksi ensimmäisistä PC-peleistä mitä olen omistanut.



Ketjussa ei nähtävästi vielä oltu tätä mainittu joten lisään sen tähän:

GTA IV Fusion fix modi, joka korjaa pelin teknistä puolta ja bugeja, asioita mitä ei koskaan virallisesta versiosta korjattu. Vaatii pelin "complete editionin".

Some details​

  • AimingZoomFix - set to 1 for proper fix, so it behaves like on Xbox360 (memorize the zoom level from the last time aiming was canceled), set to 2 to have this fixed feature enabled in IV and TLAD, set to -1 to disable this feature. 0 disables the fix, as usual.
  • FpsLimit - enter a desired value to specify the number of frames per second you want for the game. Like 30, 45, 60 or more. This will affect all gameplay. Refresh rate offsets may also be used.
  • CutsceneFpsLimit - enter a desired value to specify the number of frames per second you want for the game to use on cutscenes only.
  • DefaultCameraAngleInTLAD - TLAD uses a different camera angle on bikes, this option can force the original IV camera angle.
  • PedDeathAnimFixFromTBoGT - when you perform a counter attack after a dodge in IV & TLAD, the ped after falling and dying performs an additional death animation, which doesn't happen in TBoGT.
  • DisableCameraCenteringInCover
  • VehicleBudget - allows to increase the budget of vehicles, used to avoid only taxi will spawn.
  • PedBudget - allows to increase the budget of pedestrians.
